OUR HISTORY

Football attracts and inspires billions of people worldwide, and many Swiss Re employees share that same passion. In 1961, a few enthusiastic colleagues founded the Fussballclub Schweizer Rück (FCSR), which soon joined the Swiss company sports association. For many years, FCSR competed at the highest level, playing regular championships in the top league. Over time, two more teams were established: the senior team and the Fun-team.

In the late '90s, the first team enjoyed great success, regularly finishing in the top three of Serie A, the highest company league. This success culminated in 2005 when the team achieved the double, winning both the championship and the cup.

In 2009, the club held its first pre-season training camp, which quickly became a cherished tradition in the FCSR event calendar.

However, after a few more successful years, interest in the first team began to decline. In June 2014, due to a shortage of internal players, the FCSR board decided to withdraw from the official company championship. At the same time, the club established a women’s team, and the Fun-team began to grow, gradually taking over the training facilities from the first team.

In 2017, the captains of the Fun-team took a more professional approach, rebranding the squad as the A-Team—a move that proved to be a success. Today, the A-Team plays weekly friendly matches against team from the corporate league with impressive results and has earned a reputation as one of Zurich's best corporate football teams. Competing in various tournaments, they continue the legacy of Swiss Re’s footballing success, showcasing skill, teamwork, and a deep love for the game.
